One of my favorite things about living in the United States
is the freedom to travel from state to state and experience
the wonderful diversity of the land, culture, and people. I
especially love road tripping with my best friend, which is
what inspired this piece.
Because we live 450 miles apart, we don’t get to see
each other very often. When we do get together, it’s the
adventure of the trip, the crazy things that inevitably
happen along the way and just the sheer joy of being
together that make these moments so special. Together,
we count the minutes as miles in the car. With each passing
mile, we are further from our worries, the drudgery of our
daily lives and the responsibilities that weigh us down. We
are truly present, focused on our adventures together and
the road before us.
