This work is a reflection on a vignette in C.S. Lewis' book The Magician's Nephew in which the lion Aslan sings a new world into existence. As plants, soil, light, and animals appear, Aslan's song seems to collect everything living into one unified gesture, with animals emerging from the dust and plants collecting themselves from light. I am trying to imagine what a small patch of soil in this new world might look like.
