Solar Flare, Jeri Warner

We are connected to the activity of the sun. Linen was placed into the soil to allow the natural breakdown with holes and edges that are uniquely their own. Linen was then colored using Earth Pigments, the world’s oldest source of color. Natural earth pigments have the huge advantage of being stable and light-fast, unlike natural or synthetic dyes. Pigments are not dyes; they are not carried into and fixed inside of the fiber but sit on the surface. Following decomposition and pigmenting, machine stitching by the artist exposes our connection to the deepest parts of the universe.
